I love this pattern because you end up with something cute, tactile and a nice sense of accomplishment - pretty quickly too, so I'm grateful for the recommendation as my patience is currently still in short supply. :p It has also brought to my attention the differences between British and American crochet notations, which, as a relative crochet novice, I was previously unaware of. To be honest, I was some way into the pattern before my brain elbowed me and said "you do realise it says SC, not the DC you think you're seeing?"
| British | American |
|---|---|
| double crochet (dc) | single crochet (sc) |
| treble (tr) | double crochet (dc) |
| half treble (htr) | half double crochet (hdc) |
| double treble (dtr) | triple crochet (trc) |
I know what a treble is and I'm vaguely aware of a half treble but this is just starting to spiral! Oh well, I'm sure I'll pick up the lingo soon... :)

That's a lovely little pattern. I'm learning to crochet as well, so I might add it to my list of projects. Best wishes.
