New Year, New Crochet Skills

Part of my New Year's resolutions include learning to crochet properly and I'm excited to share the news that I've started mucking about with some crochet patterns and made my first actual crocheted item! :)

Crocheted amigurumi toy dolly
I sometimes buy knitting magazines (okay, okay - I confess it's mostly for the supposed "freebies" on the front cover because I've never truly grown up) and a relatively recent buy was Let's Get Crafting. It's a pretty expensive way to acquire spare needles and questionable yarns, especially when you secretly suspect you will never be able to crochet any of the cute amigurumi patterns on the cover. However, I gave it a go and "Sunflower Fairy" by Christine Harvey (issue 46, page 40) has yielded an actual crocheted dolly! (I'll just gloss over the pattern fudges and dropped/extra stitches...)

How are you getting on with your New Year resolutions? I hope they are going well - and hopefully better than some of my other resolutions (like getting organised and being tidier)! :)

  1. Great first crochet project. I'm slowly learning to crochet as well and might manage a scarf. I'm not sure I have the patience for a little doll.
